Why pool surrounds are different
The paving beside a pool is repeatedly splashed, dried and walked on with wet feet. A treatment needs to suit that setting, not just look good immediately after cleaning. Salt deposits, organic growth and deteriorating joints can each need a different response.
We assess the surface type, existing sealer, condition and drainage before recommending preparation and protection. Softer or weathered stone needs a controlled cleaning method. Sealing can help reduce the uptake of water and contaminants, but it is not a repair for poor drainage, failed waterproofing or damaged stone.
Sandstone pool surrounds
Sandstone can vary greatly in strength, porosity and condition. Around a pool, we check for loose grains, damaged edges, deposits and any previous treatment before deciding how to clean it. Controlled pressure and surface-compatible treatments matter more than simply turning up the pressure. After preparation and suitable drying, a compatible penetrating sealer can help reduce absorption while retaining the stone's character. We assess salt exposure and drainage alongside the finish. Sealer will not rebuild stone already affected by spalling, so any repair needs are identified separately.
Travertine pool surrounds and copings
Travertine needs attention to the stone, its filled areas, grout and coping joints. We choose cleaning products and pressure to suit those details, avoiding a treatment that damages the finish while removing soiling. The sealing recommendation considers porosity, wet exposure and whether you prefer a natural or enhanced appearance. A sample area helps establish the result before wider application. Coping caulking is assessed separately from stone sealing. We provide maintenance advice for the installed system rather than promising the same resealing interval for every pool.
Limestone Pool Surround Cleaning & Sealing
Protect your limestone pool surrounds with a sealing system matched to the stone and its poolside exposure. We clean and prepare the surface first, then assess a compatible sealer and finish for the way you use the area.
We check the coping, joints and existing treatment before work. Wet-foot use and splash exposure inform the recommendation; caulking or repairs are assessed separately where needed.
Concrete Pool Surround Cleaning & Sealing
Give your concrete pool surround a sealing system suited to its finish and wet-area use. Cleaning is the preparation step: we remove soiling and assess existing coatings and surface condition before recommending a compatible sealer.
We discuss the finish, curing and access restrictions before work starts. Sealing is not a repair for damaged concrete or a guarantee against slipping; any repair or anti-slip treatment is considered separately.
Salt, mould, algae and slippery surfaces
White salt deposits
White deposits may be efflorescence or other residue. We investigate the source before treatment; sealing over deposits or persistent moisture can leave the underlying problem unresolved.
Mould, algae and dark staining
Shaded, damp edges can accumulate organic growth. We select a suitable treatment and cleaning method, then discuss maintenance and moisture conditions. Sealing does not make a pool surround maintenance-free.
Slippery coping and paving

How soon can we walk beside the pool or swim?
Keep people and pets off the treated surround until the specified access time has passed. Swimming also needs a safe access route without wetting uncured sealer. We give separate walking, water-exposure and full-cure instructions for the product and site conditions.
Will sealing make the surround less slippery?
Not necessarily. Slip performance depends on the surface, finish, contamination and wet conditions. We offer anti-slip treatments and assess suitable options alongside sealing; no treatment removes the need for sensible poolside care.
How often should a pool surround be resealed?
The interval depends on the stone, sealer, exposure, cleaning and wear. We assess the existing protection and provide a maintenance recommendation for your system, rather than using a fixed interval for every sandstone or travertine surround.
How do you protect pets, plants and pool water?
We plan protection and runoff control before work and explain any restrictions on pets and access. Pool edges, nearby surfaces and planting are protected as the job requires. Product-specific handling and cure requirements still apply.
What affects the cost?

Can you fix a surround another company sealed badly?
